EMPOWERING GIRLS AND WOMEN

We often forget how difficult it is for women in other parts of the world. In many places girls and women are not valued or protected. The work we are doing across Cambodia, Eswatini and Latvia supports these women in realizing their full potential and claim their worth as daughters of the Lord on high!

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives

and release from darkness for the prisoners.

ISAIAH 61:1

The business of human trafficking generates over $32 billion worldwide annually. More than two-thirds of that money comes from Eastern Europe alone. To combat this, the Freedom61 Café in Riga provides a place of refuge where women and girls are welcomed in from streets and out of the cold. They are nourished with a hot meal and genuine friendship that is desperately needed. This is the first step in helping the vulnerable and exploited to transition out of this life and into the hope and future Christ has for them.

Help fight exploitation and show the welcoming love of God.  Your gift will enable girls and women to take the first step in their new life and show them they are valued and loved.

Transition

Center

Once they have made the courageous decision to start a new life, women at Freedom61 move to the Transition Center. The Transition Center is a restored athletic center that now houses women who have escaped the horrors of human trafficking. These women have been abused, used and forgotten. The staff at the Transition Center provides a safe environment and a new start where they can rehabilitate their bodies and their souls. The center provides counseling, vocational training, prayer and friendship as the women heal and experience God’s redemptive love.

HUNGER

Hunger doesn’t discriminate on age, race or geographical location.

We partner with countries around the globe, as well as close to home, to help eliminate hunger.

For I was hungry and

you gave me

something to eat,

I was thirsty and

you gave me

something to drink,

I was a stranger and

you invited me in.

MATTHEW 25:35

Mount Si

Food Bank

The statistics are everywhere:

1 in 5 children in the United States are hungry.

If you put that into context here in our Valley, over 4000 children and youth are going home to bare cupboards. Partner with us to help Mount Si Helping Hands food bank make a change for our community.

The food bank serves close to 200 students who, when they go home for the weekend, leave their most reliable food source behind. Backpacks filled with a weekend supply of food are prepared and distributed to those in need. Over longer breaks, backpacks are filled with food that lasts a week.

In addition to feeding hungry students, your gifts support others in need, including those experiencing homelessness, elderly on fixed incomes or anyone that needs a little extra help. Every week, the food bank serves over 1,100 people who, without this organization and your help, would go hungry.

EDUCATION

Education is the best chance children have for change.  In the U.S. we are blessed to have public schools that are free.  In developing countries that is typically not the case. There are many economic barriers to receiving an education. Our goal as we partner with organizations, is to help remove the obstacles that are holding children back from an opportunity to learn.  More importantly is that they have the opportunity to learn how Jesus can transform lives, villages and countries. If we can raise up children to know Christ, they are the key to changing the world!

All Scripture is God-breathed

and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training

in righteousness,

so that the servant of God

may be thoroughly equipped

for every good work.

2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17.

ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN

We often forget how difficult it is for women in other parts of the world. In many places girls and women are not valued or protected. The work we are doing across Cambodia, Eswatini and Latvia supports these women in realizing their full potential and claim their worth as daughters of the Lord on high!

The AIDS crisis in Africa has produced an overwhelming number of orphans.

In Eswatini, these orphans are cared for by GoGos, or grandmothers, who take them in.

Pastor Bhekie’s vision and prayer for his church

is to see them be the hands and feet of Jesus

to these women and children.

Help them to recover and rebuild.

Provide a safe place to sleep

and call home.

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.

ISAIAH 1:17.

David

Center

Orphanage

Almost four decades ago, the Khmer Rouge committed genocide against more than one fourth of their fellow Cambodians. The country is still struggling to recover. In the midst of this darkness stands a great light. Church on the Ridge partners with TransformAsia to help raise up the future leaders of the country to be God-honoring Christians. PROVERBS 20:6. Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. The devastation of Killing Fields in Cambodia eliminated almost the entire adult population, leaving many orphans in its wake.  The David Center Orphanage was one of the first to respond to the children left in the jungles to fend for themselves. Randa & Setan Lee founded the David Center in 1992 and are now referred to as Mama & Papa by more than 200 current and graduated students from the David Center.

LIVELIHOOD

In 2015, your donations to Missions launched a Tractor ministry and helped Church on the Ridge purchase a tractor for Spirit and Truth Bible Church in Eswatini, Africa.  The intent was to help them plow and harvest their communities’ crops, but it has become much more than that. During the drought in 2017, they were able to haul tanks of water and deliver them to community members.  This kept people, animals and crops from withering away. This year that tractor was used to haul building supplies to the site of a house that your donations helped build.

The David Center Farm

The David Center farm is located on the land next to the David Center Orphanage in Anlong Veng, Cambodia.  Mama Randa is working to create a fully self-sustained farm that can provide food, employment and income to support the orphanage.

Animals

Giving the gift of livestock is giving the gift of self-sustainability.  Various animals can provide eggs, milk, wool, meat and income sources.

MISSIONARIES

God has commanded us to go out into the world and share the good news of the gospel. At Church on the Ridge, we support families and individuals that have chosen to serve Jesus on a full-time basis. Their job is to serve those in need. They do not have another job that supports them. It is our blessing as a church to be able to support them and the work they are doing for God’s kingdom.

Meet Liene & Sergejs Korshakov

Having experienced ourselves the pain caused by broken families and living in difficult situation, we know the miraculous transformation that is possible with God.  We believe that women who are experiencing deep brokenness need somebody who can be there to support and fight for them as they seek help. While they may not yet know how to expect anything different than what they have known before, we want to be there to love, walk alongside, and encourage women towards their new beginning and the hope available in Christ.

Liene & Sergejs, along with their young son, are taking a leap of faith to both become full-time missionaries for Freedom61, serving at the Transition Center.  In order to do that, they need monthly support from churches, friends and families

TransformAsia

Setan and Randa are both survivorsof the Killing Fields. Because of acommitment Setan made to God, heis dedicating his life to reaching everyCambodian for Christ. Church on theRidge commits money on a monthlybasis to support all the ministries thatSetan & Randa have developed over the past 25 years.

Slavic Ministries

Al began his mission by smuggling
bibles into communist Russia. One of his
mission partners challenged the group
by saying he felt they were supposed to
translate the Bible into all the languages
of the Soviet Union—all 127 of them!
The Wall fell twenty years later and many of the once-Soviet countries are still trying to climb out of the darkness.
Now Al and his wife Carolyn are the
founders of Freedom61, which is facing
human trafficking head on. Our monthly
contributions help them bring the light
of Jesus to a dark nation.

STUDENTS IN THE FIELD

Griffen Armour — serving in Cusco, Peru

I’ve been a part of Church on the Ridge since the day the doors first opened. I’ve grown up in it, from Kids on the Ridge to high school Youth Group. I’ve had the pleasure of leading middle school and high school small groups, and I’ve been on numerous mission trips with Church on the Ridge which has inspired me to go into missions even deeper. I currently live in Cusco, Peru as a full-time missionary. I’m working with friends to help create sustainable life in mountain villages in the Peruvian Andes as well as doing several other solo projects, talking about Jesus, partnering with a church and doing homeless outreach.

Mckenna Fedora — serving in Newcastle, Australia

I work as a full-time volunteer with YWAM in
Newcastle, Australia and have been here for just over two years. I disciple students for six months out of the year through a program called Discipleship Training School (DTS). Within those six months I mentor 3-4 students and also lead an overseas mission trip with
another staff for about 10 of those weeks. The other six months of the year I work in a department called Student Communications. I call people from all over the world, get to disciple them through conversation, and for those who apply for the school, I steward all
their paperwork and help them get to Australia. I am also involved in youth and sports ministry throughout the week in the city.

Aidan Reynolds and Ana Brestin

Aidan and Ana are both students
in YWAM’s Discipleship Training
School in Australia. They are
currently mid-way through their
6 month experience. In January
they will be going on a ten week
evangelism trip overseas.
